Field Quality Control of Spectral Solar Irradiance Measurements by Comparison with Broadband Measurements

چکیده

Measurement of solar spectral irradiance is required in an increasingly wide variety technical applications, such as atmospheric studies, health, and energy, among others. The at ground level has a strong dependence on many parameters. In addition, spectroradiometer optics detectors have high sensitivity. Because this, it necessary to compare with reference instrumentation or light source verify the quality measurements. A simple realistic test for validating measurements presented this study. This methodology applicable specific range inside broadband from 280 4000 nm under cloudless sky conditions. method compares both predictions clear-sky instruments pyrheliometers. For estimation, free transmittance simulation code air mass calculation mean parameter was used. direct normal (Gbλ) two different spectroradiometers were tested Plataforma Solar de Almería, Spain. results are article. Although only Gbλ considered study, same can be applied other components.

Comparison of Spectral Direct and Diffuse Solar Irradiance Measurements and Calculations for Cloud-Free Conditions

The comparison of spectral measurements and calculations provides an excellent foundation for analyzing the ability of models to compute the solar irradiance absorbed in the atmosphere. Since molecular absorption bands have distinctive spectral signatures, the absence of an atmospheric absorber in a model would result in spectral measurement-model residuals qualitatively different from those ca...

Annual and interannual behavior of solar ultraviolet irradiance revealed by broadband measurements.

This research examines the behavior of ground-level solar UV radiation as measured by eight broadband meters in the continental United States during the period from late 1994 to late 1998. The goal is to define the variability that occurs in UV irradiance over time scales ranging from one to several years. The monthly integrated irradiances, from latitude 32 degrees N to 47 degrees N, contain l...

Estimating spectral irradiance from measurements in seven spectral bands

Accurate measurement and characterisation of fluctuations in the irradiance environment is important for many areas of optical remote sensing. This paper reports a method of estimating spectral irradiance over the VNIR region (400 1100nm) from the radiance of a calibrated reference panel, measured in seven narrow (10nm) spectral bands. Earlier work established the potential for estimating spect...

The Signature of Flares in VIRGO Total Solar Irradiance Measurements

We use Total Solar Irradiance (TSI) measurements from the VIRGO (Variability of solar IRradiance and Gravity Oscillations) instrument on board SOHO to obtain preliminary estimates of the mean total radiative energy emitted by X-class solar flares. The basic tool is that of summed-epoch analysis, which has also enabled us to detect and partially characterize systematic errors present in the basi...

Initial solar irradiance determinations from nimbus 7 cavity radiometer measurements.

Preliminary results from solar radiation measurements from the earth radiation budget experiment on the Nimbus 7 satellite yield a mean value of 1376.0 watts per square meter for the "solar constant" from 16 November 1978 to 15 May 1979. The observed variability (root-mean-square deviation) is +/- 0.73 watt per square meter (+/- 0.05 percent) for the period.
